Kombat Fuzzy: The Traditional Dance of Ghana

Kombat Fuzzy, a native of Ghana, is a specialist on the traditions, customs, and culture of his country, especially as related to African dance.  As a Visiting Scholar in Residence, Kombat Fuzzy recreated the art of African dance through a series of workshops and lectures.

Speaker Bio

Mr. Kombat Fuzzy is a communications, community mobilization and adult education specialist. For the last 10 years, he has developed professional competence in the animation and training of communities through drama and artistic expressions. In particular, he is a specialist on the traditions, customs, and culture of Ghana, especially as related to African dance.

He has taught Drama, English Language and History at various levels of the education system, and occupied challenging positions in senior management of the culture industry in Northern Ghana.Mr. Fuzzy has served as Community Liaison Worker for the GWSC Assistance Project in the Northern Region. In this role, he has been instrumental in the establishment and training of six community-based Water and Sanitation Development Boards. These Boards are now responsible for managing the operations and maintenance of their water supply and sanitation activities.

Mr. Fuzzy speaks all the major Northern Ghanian languages and some southern Ghanaian ones as well. His deep understanding of the culture and traditions of rural communities has been an asset in his training and animation functions.
