With public lectures and readings, the Winter Park Institute hosts influential people from a broad spectrum of disciplines and expertise. This exchange of ideas is designed to encourage enlightened ongoing conversation and to enhance an educated citizenry who, through civic discourse and debate, foster and strengthen a democratic society.

The Winter Park Institute has moved from its home for twelve years at Rollins College to become an independent 501(c)(3) non profit to present programs for the City of Winter Park and beyond at its new Library & Events Center campus. As a public charity, the Institute is dependent upon the generosity of corporate, institutional and individual patronage for support.
Serving as home to the Winter Park Institute, patrons are invited to events inside the Library and featured speakers in the adjacent Events Center.
Lauren is the owner of the Writer’s Block Bookstore, located in Winter Park and Winter Garden, Florida. A graduate of the University of Florida, College of Architecture, degree in Interior Design, Lauren practiced interior architectural design for twelve years before going to law school to become an attorney. Lauren practiced law for almost twenty years while raising three girls. She is currently a Trustee of the Winter Park Library and served as a Trustee for the American Institute of Architecture Foundation for five years. In addition, she is an advocate for children and literacy and has devoted most of both her legal career and her nine years of owning a bookstore to advocating for reading as the foundation of learning. As the Chairman of the new Winter Park Institute, Lauren’s vision is to bring back enlightened ongoing conversation and to encourage an educated citizenry.
